Virginia Native Daylily

It might not really be native, it's not unique to Virginia as it's naturalized across the US, and it's not really a lily...but it's one of our prettiest summer flowers. The Latin name is Hemerocallis fulva. It grows happily along roads and in ditches and doesn't mind our clay soil. This one's in our garden, but W.'s favorites are along an unpaved road that's part of his running route. The road is sunken, and the lilies grow profusely along each side and past a beautiful old log cabin.

Blissfully cool today. I biked along the W&OD trail...oof, my biking muscles are out of shape! Met friend Laura at the picnic tables and got a good quantity of work done. Also walked through the park's mowed trails - myriad wildflowers and a groundhog. FaceTimed with W.'s parents tonight. We're making plans for the next trip to Tennessee.
