Throwing it all Away

After the excitement(?) of getting the “new” tumble dryer yesterday, todays entertainment was how to dispose of the old one.
Council tip - sorry “Household Waste Recycling Centre” - reopened a couple of weeks back so off I go. Usually, it’s a quick in and out to dispose of a large appliance like this because you don’t have to join the main queue to get up on the ramp. But new rules are in place now. Limited number of cars allowed on site, no assistance with unloading and marshals directing you all the way. Consequently, things were moving very slowly and I was not allowed to bypass the main queue until the very last minute. The only consolation was that at least I was dry, sitting in my car. The poor beggars tasked with controlling operations were exposed to the elements and looked somewhat damp!
Total time queuing to get in - 1 hour
Total time to dump the dryer - 1 minute
It actually took less time to find, buy and pick up the new dryer, than it did to dispose of the old one.
Welcome to more of the new normal.
