An update on the Coronavirus restrictions from Ms Sturgeon - a very cautious lifting indeed. We can use the toilet in another house if you don’t flush or something. So what’s going on? Iain Macwhirter has been on the case and he reckons there’s been a major change of strategy. Remember Jason Leitch, the National Clinical Director, back in March: "We’re not trying to eliminate the virus - because that is a false hope. You can’t do it."
However lately is seems the high-profile Professor of Global Public Health of Edinburgh University, Prof Devi Sridhar has the FM’s ear. And what says she? "The goal is to drive down numbers ... with the ultimate goal of elimination.”
That obviously appeals to those who wish that we were actually New Zealand and didn’t have a land border with you-know-who. You may recognise that as aligning somewhat with the FM’s politics.
Anyway, crack on, we must. There’s been a box sitting in the corner of the sitting room for rather too long. Work to be done. I think it’s looking at me.
