And now there are nine

Ten days ago my bargain plant buy from Aldi’s last year for 89p had 4 flowering spikes; now there are 9!!
What is it? It’s a “red hot poker” or Kniphofia uvaria to give it it’s Sunday name. It is a species of flowering plant in the family Asphodelaceae, also known as tritomea, torch lily, or red hot poker, due to the shape and color of its inflorescence. It is growing in a barrel at the allotments and is a favourite of all nectar lovers, even humans, who can get a taste by gently shaking a spike the nectar supply is so copious.
