Orkney - a Day at the Coast

A call today from a social worker, and the Care Support Team, to say my Mum was struggling.  She’d tried to call NHS 24.  Went across and assessed what was to do and she gradually came at.  She even made herself some porridge.  CMC went and bought her a comic (The Daily Express) for better behaviour.  We checked on her later.

Being ignorant we weren’t exactly sure of what we can do now so we went for a run up to Yesnaby and walked to Skara Brae and back.  It was so strange seeing no folk about.  However, what was about was a pair of Scooty Alans.  We thought they were only meant to nest on Papay (which is where I last saw one).  However, they put on a great display of distraction behaviour (feigning injury).

Beautiful afternoon with very sparkly pellucid sea and no wind.  Which made up for the fact that, despite radar and satellite navigation, we were awakened in the night by a ship’s hooter in the fog.  At least, I think it was a ship’s hooter.

Wendy Craig is 86.  Tommy Craig is 69.
