Winter Solstice

The shortest day was mild and calm and we spent the morning gardening.  I found snowdrops and daffodils are poking their leaves through the soil.  As usual I have the camera on the outside table so I can catch some images of the feathered visitors.  A female bellbird was very nervous and  darting about.  The tui were in the shade and not showing their glorious colours.  The little waxeyes never dissapoint. I thought this one had a pensive look.  I also liked the shadow of tiny kowhai leaves falling on it.  I also liked the direct look of the extra and the smudgy background so you get two today.
The afternoon was spent watching rugby while knitting.
