Where have all the flowers gone?

Pods are now forming in the oilseed rape field, once a sea of bright yellow, now a tangled untidy mass of stalks and small pods.  Rapeseed oil is the third largest source of vegetable oil in the world.  A byproduct is the meal made into animal feed which is the second largest source of protein after soybean.  This crop will be harvested and sold for human and animal consumption.   Rapeseed oil can also be used for biodiesel.

I wanted to take a close-up photograph of the linseed in flower but it was impossible to walk through this field, even along the edge which was full of tall grasses and thistles!

T, K and I paid a visit since their car had a puncture - brand new tyre.  T will have to take it in tomorrow to be fixed if possible.
