Surfing…

………………the Waves

Not the biggest of waves, especially by West Coast standards, but several surfers were making the most of those available this afternoon here at Punakaiki, NZ.

Extra photos show an orange Reef Star and rocks typical of the wild West Coast of NZ.

The Reef Starfish is endemic to the west coast shores of the North and South Islands of NZ, where wave action is increased. They do not usually inhabit ecosystems that have reduced wave action and calm conditions as they prefer a higher-energy environment.

Thank you so much for all the comments, stars and hearts for my recent travel blips. I am pleased you have enjoyed a glimpse of my country. Tomorrow we head for home.
