In Fond Memory of Admirer

The bendimen set out without
their hats, but on the beach
they find two shells the perfect shape
and so they have one each.

Red finds his shell-hat stops the sun
from dazzling his eyes,
but Yellow's brim's not big enough;
his shell's a smaller size.

But do they quarrel? Do they moan?
Of course, not -- not this pair!
They each take turns and swap their hats --
they always choose to share.

Like many Saturdays before,
this Saturday in June,
they think of other happy times
before this afternoon.

The name 'admirer' fills their heads,
her kindness, love and fun ...
and so we leave them on the beach,
remembering in the sun.
