LLA

A morning meeting with members of the Africa team at which a colleague presented the work he’s led on Landscape Level Assessment (LLA) for some of our focal forest areas in Liberia and Guinea. Super interesting analyses of forest connectivity and deforestation risk that could be done elsewhere, so I’d like to hatch plans for Mozambique too. Seeing the maps and location names in northern Liberia transported me back to my stints out there, holding the reins as we waited for the new project manager to arrive from Nigeria. Liberia is a fascinating place to be working on conservation issues and unique in West Africa for how much primary forest remains there.

On the last day of June in the UK it doesn’t feel particularly marvellous to be donning the thick coats once more. We contemplated putting the heating on, but resisted. Surely there will be some hot days at points in July and August.
