common spotted orchid

I had a lovely long walk today (9 and a half miles) joining up all the places I've been exploring in the past week. Up by road to Glenkiln and then to the summit of Bishop Forest Hill and down to Barbuie. The second half of the walk was very wet, but that is perfect for flowers like the common spotted orchid.

Did you know?
The Common Spotted-orchid is the county flower of West Lothian/Linlithgowshire.
It has local names including Adam and Eve, adder's flower, crow-foot, curlie-daddie (i.e. 'curly head'), dead man's finger, kettle-case, old woman's pincushion and ring-finger.
The perfumed flowers are attractive to day-time flying moths.
