I'll have the steak

We touched down in Buenos Aires at 8.35am. After 2 hrs through passport control and Customs, we were finally on our way to the hotel in Palermo. A quick bag drop before making off for the cobbled streets of San Telmo for a spot of browsing at the Sunday antique market. After convincing the boy that a soda syphon was not an authentic Argentinian purchase, we took a stroll through a dodgy neighbourhood sidestepping dogpoo to reach La Boca via La Bombonera, the home of Maradona's beloved FC Boca Juniors. La Boca is an eclectic mix of brightly coloured buildings (pictured), street theatre and parillas where we sampled the local delicacy of espanadas washed down with a pint of Quilmes followed by alfajores, Argentina's answer to the Oreo biscuit.

The boy was pleased to spot 'Maradona' but wouldn't spend $5 to have his photo taken with him!

Argentinian steak was on the agenda on the evening at the famous La Cabrera, we weren't disappointed...a huge slab of sirloin with no less than 16 side dishes. Pure Argentinian heaven then bed!

Ciao!
