Don't cry for me Argentina

This morning, we caught a cab to Puerto Madero and then walked our way through the streets of Buenos Aires, from the Presidential Palace at Plaza De Mayo taking in the neighbourhoods of Barrio Norte and Recoleta, peering into shop windows and snapping everything that was vaguely interesting.

After what felt like a ten hour hike, we relaxed in a park under a huge metal sculpture of a flower bud (Floralis Generica) which opens at dawn and closes at dusk. This was to be today´s blipfoto but the boy suggested a quick trip to Cementerio de la Recolta, a cemetery! A cemetery of past influential Argentinians, I wasn't too bothered but tagged along anyway, and, oh my god, how glad I was. It was the eeriest place I have ever been to. It was like a huge maze of thousands of mini masoleums where you could peer inside and see stacks of coffins. Everywhere you turned angels and crosses peer down at you. Some very ornate like mini churches with stainglass windows and large knockers, others much more modest, made of marble and glass windows with coffins at the front for all to see.

I have so many photos but I think this one had to be the blip as it is Eva Peron's (Evita's) vault, were she is buried with her family. Still today, people come to show their respect for her and lay flowers. Crazy afternoon, you can't appreciate the eeriness in just one picture but lets put it this way, you would not go there on Halloween!

Tonight were venturing to watch a show at Cafe Tortoni, the oldest Tango bar in Buenos Aires.

Tomorrow we get up early to catch a flight to Igassu falls - and get wet!

Must dash!
