Anne's Daily Encounters

Kissamos region

Today we went to the far West of Crete :-)  that's to the region of Kissamos / Kastelli and there we went into the hills in order to find a friend of Sweetheart, who took us around this area he knows so well.

We'd visited a few Byzantine churches, I hadn't been to yet and he took us to this site next to the village road what's in maintanance. Archeologists knew that here's a location of graves.

Now that the road is broadened, the graves were and are taken care of by the archeology service here of Crete. Some graves contained bones; and they're traces as from children and women, who died7 centuries ago. Both Sweetheart and his friend couldn't tell me if they suffered from the plague or something alike... there's almost a similarity with present times with the bug / bat / Covid-19  what kills us like a plague.

Weekend about and I wish you all a Happy Weekend!
Can't imagine it yet, but it'll be my last on Crete for this time around.
