Travelling On

We left Christchurch at 7.33 am.  I am not usually up to see the dawn but today I did see a vivid pink sky.  The drive south is straight and flat.  We had brunch in Hampden and vanessa's cafe was humming.  They do an excellent french toast, banana and bacon.  We continued on through farming country and stopped at Lake Waihola for a thermos cup of tea.  Driving around Gore this afternoon we came across the Creamota factory.  That was the type of porridge/oats that I ate as a child.  The Sergeant Dan figure on the side of the building was used in the promotions.  The factory was built in 1919 and closed in 2001.
Our hostess at the B&B has worked on Stewart Island so we had a wee chat about the place.  512 ks driven today.
Tomorrow it is onto Bluff at the bottom of the South Island.  From there we helicopter to our floating home for four nights.  We think it is going to be at Port Pegasus which is on the south east coast of Stewart Island.  The adventure is getting closer.  After tomorrow I won't be in wifi range so will see you all on Friday night 10th July.
