annual task

spent the afternoon weeding, rotavating and planting the veg patch at M&E's, some people my parents have known forever (in the way of small communities) and who they've been working for a fair few years. i did snap the spuds in their ready-for-planting glory, but then saw this tulip (about 3in high) in one of the pots on the terrace and it's such a great combination of colours i had to blip it. i've promised M i'll do her a print - if she had the interweb i think she'd be tickled pink to see this!

so knackered when we got done, but for the first time in months it was because i was physically tired rather than mentally shattered. first time at home since xmas and i'm out to work, says M - but it's great to be doing something not involving a computer, a newsroom, office politics etc; something that leaves a tangible and lasting impression for the rest of the summer as they harvest their spuds. the pay might be crap against what i get per day normally, but the satisfaction level is so much higher that i can cope with the thought of doing more of this if the other dries up, at least for a while.

btw, i backblipped yesterday if you care to glance over.
