Onwards and upwards....

2034. Bee on a Thistle

We took our first proper outing today since the start of the pandemic...to Pitlochry!

We packed a picnic, checked to see if there were any toilets open (there were!) and off we went.  The weather was cool but dry so we wrapped up and set off on our adventure.

The place was dead with hardly a soul about and what a shame for the few businesses that were open along the High Street....I bought something from a shop selling organic creams and lotions as I felt so sorry for them with so few visitors.  Normally at this time of year Pitlochry is heaving with tourists...but it's going to be a while before things pick up again...hopefully when the hotels re-open.

We walked to the dam but couldn't cross the river as it was all locked up but took a walk along the river bank then headed back to the town to find a bench to have our picnic.  It was really nice to be out and about and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch al fresco.

One death from Covid-19 reported yesterday in Scotland and hopefully soon it will be none....so sad to see spikes appearing all over the world and particularly in Australia where state borders have been closed for the first time in 100 years.....but at least they have a proper decisive response to the spikes...unlike England....where despite reported Covid-19 infections in several pubs...very little action is being taken and it's on with the free for all....and now our PM is blaming care homes for some deaths because they "didn't follow the guidance".....I was so angry to hear this especially after hospitals tipped out elderly patients into care homes without testing them first...on government orders.  And then the same government failed to ensure that these same care homes had access to PPE and ignored their pleas for weeks whilst thousands were dying....then to add insult to injury they didn't ensure that they access to testing...in fact all testing was abandoned..a la Trump...if you don't test there are no cases...

I had thought that this PM couldn't sink any lower...but then he and his idiot Father (who has flouted government travel restrictions to fly on holiday to Greece) and the rest of the idiots in Westminster all just manage to lie and cheat their way through the worst crisis this country and the rest of the world has faced in many years.  I never express political opinions normally on my journal and there may be some reading this who disagree with my assessment of what has happened here and perhaps these experiences will make poeple sit up and become more politically aware and actually exercise their right to vote as I believe our political landscape would be quite different if everyone did.  Rant over...

I hope you like my bee on a thistle...it was very kind of him (or her) to land on it and pose so beautifully for so long....
