Rodents rule

Beetle in the path

This beastie stopped us in our tracks on our evening walk. A lady behind us also stopped (at a good distance) to have a look. None of us was the wiser. I've looked it up and I think it's a summer chafer (Amphimallon solstitiale) – a new bug for me. It lives in woodland and parkland, and the path it's on is fairly near Norwood Grove park.

A bit of a day for resting from hectic work and some more of the going-to-be-a-pond hollow dug out. Lots more broken glass found but no treasure (or bodies) as yet.
