Land of Plenty

Another exquisite day here in Calistoga although a bit warmer a high of 93 F (34 C) although it is bone dry. But it was still a wee bit warm for me. A colleague/friend of my husband's, and his wife - neither of whom I'd met before, came by for a socially distant visit. They were great fun and it broke up the day a bit. We even managed a lunch at a local restaurant - socially distant, masked when appropriate. All in all a good day.

The B&B we're staying at has 20 acres only about 5 of which is developed. The owners have 6 horses, 2 dogs and chickens and a rooster, as well as a vegetable garden and a lot of fruit trees. Breakfast is often created with what's on hand - eggs of course, as well as veggies, herbs and fruit.

The  peach trees are laden with peaches and oh so tempting, but not ripe yet. There's also pears, apricots, plums and nectarines. Cherries have gone by and figs will come in the fall. I love peaches, so that's today's blip from sunny northern Napa Valley.
