A long day

We left home today at 7.20am and drove to Abbotsbury in Dorset to rejoin the South West Coast path where we had left it on Monday. We knew it was going to be a long day. The walk involved walking behind the long Chesil beach which seemed to go on and on. We saw the swannery from a distance, extra 3, some lovely views, extra 2 and even the Queen Mary 2 when we reached Weymouth as it is sheltering there with at least four other large cruise ships. We last saw the Queen Mary 2 a couple of years ago when we were in New Zealand. It popped into Doubtful Sound where we were moored up but couldn’t come right in like we were. I was lucky not to have got bitten by some nasty horse flies which were buzzing about in some fields when we were away from the sea breezes, I kept waving my arms around to deter them. When we eventually reached our destination in Weymouth after 16 miles we had to wait an hour for the bus which we actually saw as we arrived but we wanted to sit on a bench. When we went to the bus stop we realised there would be a problem as there was a queue and the single decker was only allowed to take 12 passengers due to social distancing. Luckily the driver rang the depot and another bus was summoned to take the remaining 9 passengers but of course this time they sent a double decker which could take 20 passengers. We arrived home just after 7.20pm, tired but pleased with our achievement of the day.
