Look how my wings have grown!!

We had our Sunday walk to the lake to check up again on the coot family. Happily they still have the 6 chicks, having only lost one of the original seven during the first week after they hatched. The chicks are growing at an amazing pace - especially their wings: compare the one showing off its wings here with the shot I took just 3 weeks ago!

Although the three chicks which were on the nest were prepared to show their faces for the photo, the adult which was busy preening itself refused to turn round ;-)

The cygnets are growing fast too, and also showing off their wings - see the extra.
