The Running Horse

I had a routine eye test this morning which took me into Leatherhead. The town was very quiet and I had no trouble finding a parking space. Good to hear that my eyes are healthy.
I walked down Bridge Street and was attracted to The Running Horse, the little pub down near the River Mole. The building is 15th century and there is reference to it in a lease of 1414. Folk lore has it that 1525 the alewife at the inn was fined 2d for selling ale at excessive prices. Whatever its past history, it is an attractive little building.
