Clouds At Dusk

Light from the setting sun behind the dark cloud on the left caught the edge of its opposite number on the right giving a wonderful sense of depth and volume. I tried to bring that out with some careful editing, but I don't think I did it justice.

When taking the photos, I tried various exposures and noticed the colour of the sky changed from yellow for a longer shutter speed to deep red with the shortest. To my eye, the sky looked red. Afterward, when editing, I could not adjust the lighter, yellow sky, to achieve the red I saw. So I blended three exposures just as I would for a high dynamic range scene.

Even though it was quite dark, I raised the blacks of the trees to show some detail.
