Marsh Helleborine

I visited the CWT reserve Waitby Greenrigs to see the orchids today. This is a delightful nature reserve that is formed from a disused railway cutting. There are an incredible number of orchids at the moment, particularly the delightful Marsh Helleborine which is too numerous to count. I love the frilly lower lip!
Also plenty of fragrant and common spotted, twayblades and the stems of fly orchids now finished for the season.
The reserve is connected to the Smardale one by a footpath along the railway cutting and there is a new car park with plenty of room. Well worth the drive.
