First Monarch

I was so delighted when my husband urgently called me out to the garden to see this beautiful, perfect, female butterfly on the milkweed.  I knew from the tone of his voice that I should grab my camera and I am so glad I did. 

Other than a few cabbage whites, this is the first butterfly of any kind that I have seen in my pollinator garden this season.  Isn't she a beauty?
