Awash

A sunny day, chilled and low-key. I did a gentle amble up the hill behind our place and gasped at this tree, awash with blooms. Is it a magnolia? I had already passed a bright pink magnolia but this tree looks a bit different and the smell is heady. I liked the shed in the background too of course. Later I had a chat with our hosts who were busy pruning the feijoa trees and the kiwi vines.  And they gave us a basket full of delicious tiny mandarins fresh from their orchard. Later still, we wandered down to the historic cemetery in Clifton. Usually its moated by the sea, but the tide was way way out and we could walk on the mud flats. Such a peaceful spot with many early settlers' graves.
