Wicken Fen

First, morning coffee with my brother and sister-in-law before we moved on to visit Wicken Fen near Ely.  I have been there before but probably 40+ years ago!  It's an area preserved much as the Fens would have been, with a large amount of wildlife. We didn't get into one area, though, as that needed advance booking.
It was not a great day for my photography - I struggle with wildlife - but we did see a water vole  (extra -distant and small ) and I managed one image of a dragonfly actually in focus; these creatures really don't keep still and didn't seem to land anywhere.

After walking around for quite a while seeing lots of butterflies and more of the restless dragonflies plus the odd windmill or two - we moved on - heading towards our last site.  The sites we like to stay on are small - max of five m/homes or caravans. Arriving to a sea of vans, vehicles and tents we thought we had got the wrong place.  It was very busy and crowded.  We checked that we were in the right place and then told the owner we would not be staying.  We were only a couple of hours from home so just carried on.

So home now after an interesting and enjoyable week away and  looking forward to the next trip.
