a lifetime burning

Green and pleasant land

Cathy and I took a walk to explore some of the local footpaths that we are not that familiar with.  There were some lovely bits, and some less lovely bits - but it was nice to get out in the dry weather.  This is a shot of one of the nicer bits, where the farmer seems to have set aside one corner of his field for wild flowers.

We were surprised to hear distant music when we woke this morning.  It sounded as though a band's rhythm section had set up in a neighbouring property.  We muttered about this to each other, who would be so anti-social as to start rehearsing a band at 7am? Cathy was suggesting that we go for a walk around the neighbourhood to see if we could track it down.  In the event it transpired that the noise was being caused by an illegal rave at a disused RAF base on one of the hills on the far side of the valley that had started after dark the previous evening and was still going.  It hadn't kept us awake but it did cause us to get up slightly earlier on a Sunday than we would otherwise have done.  Fortunately we were sufficiently far away that the sound was relatively muted, it must have been hell for those closer to it...

Still, nice for the young people to get to enjoy themselves, they've had a tough time of it recently :-o
