A Day In The Life

Fingerling Cutie

Our DNA proved we were both more Irish than anything else, so we attribute our love of potatoes to that fact • We enjoy growing, harvesting and eating white spuds. It’s a challenge now to outdo the previous year. Our first year totaled 18lbs, 25lbs last year, and this year is yet to be determined, but I’m feeling confident ;) We aren’t traditional growers either, having had success with bags and an 18” tall bed made of bricks • We are growing two varieties this year: Fingerlings and Evas • You may be surprised to learn that these are the top three consumers of potatoes globally: China (1), India (2), and US (3) • We have to thank the Spaniards for introducing the potato to Europe @ 1570, then British Explorer Sir Walter Raleigh for planting them at his Irish Estate near Cork @ 1589 • The earliest crop in N. America was in Londonderry, NH in 1719. The plants came from Ireland so the crop became known as The Irish Potato • Yum!
