Castell coch ac awyr las ~ red castle and blue sky

————— ————— ————— ————— ————— ————— —————

Rydw i wedi sylw gwahaniaeth annisgwyl rhwng cael fy nghyflogi a chael fy ymddeol.  Pan roeddwn i'n gweithio yn y Brifysgol roedd fy mywyd mewn dau flwch - 'gwaith' ac 'adre' ac roedden nhw eithaf rhagweladwy. Nawr unrhywbeth yn gallu digwydd ar unrhyw bryd - dydw i ddim yn gwybod beth neu bryd.

Rydyn ni wedi cael diwrnod eithaf prysur heddiw. Dechreuais i gyda rhedeg - wrth gwrs.  Rydw i'n ceisio rhedeg ychydig ymhellach o dro i dro, ac yr amser hwn rhedais i i fyny'r Daith Taf i Dongwynlais, i fyny'r i Gastell Coch. Mae Castell Coch yn lle hyfryd. Dydy e ddim ar agor ar hyn o bryd - gobeithio y bydd ar agor i ymwelwyr eto yn fuan. Rhedais i  yn ôl ar hyd y rheilffordd anarferedig yn yr Eglwys Newydd. Roedd y rheilffordd oedd awgrym Nor'dzin ac mae'n lle hyfryd. Rhedais i tua un deg chwe chilomedr. Mae ychydig yn anghredadwy, a bod yn onest.

Yn y prynhawn aethon ni i'r siopau. Roedden ni'n casglu archeb o 'Iechyd Da' ein siop ecolegol leol.  Maen nhw wedi bod yn rhyfeddol dros y pedwar mis diweddar. Rydyn ni wedi bod yn dibynnu arnyn nhw am ran fawr o'n bwyd. Am eu rhan maen nhw wedi gwerthfawrogi eu cwsmeriaid. Felly mae gyda ni gymdeithas cyd-werthfawrogi. Rydyn ni'n teimlo nawr ein bod ni'n gallu ymweld â'r siop, felly does dim angen arnyn nhw ddanfon pethau i ni. Aethon ni i'r siop feic hefyd i ofyn am feic Daniel sy wedi bod yn yr ardd am flynyddoedd. Yn anffodus, byddai'n rhy ddrud i'w atgyweirio. Gofynnon ni â Daniel beth y dylen ni wneud a gwnaeth e gytuno i roi'r beic i elusen.

Felly yna cerddais i â beic i rownd i Hyfforddiant Beicio Cymru i roi'r beic iddyn nhw. Roedd pedwar cilomedr taith gron - felly rydw i wedi bod yn fwy na dau deg cilomedr heddiw. Rydw i'n teimlo ffortunus iawn i gael yr iechyd  a chryfder i wneud pethau fel hyn.

I've noticed an unexpected difference between being employed and being retired. When I was working at University my life was in two boxes - 'work' and 'home' and they were pretty predictable. Now anything can happen at any time - I don't know what or when.

We've had a pretty busy day today. I started with running - of course. I try to run a little further from time to time, and this time I ran up the Taff Trail to Tongwynlais, up to Castell Coch. Castell Coch (Red Castle) is a lovely place. It's not open at the moment - hopefully it will be open to visitors again soon. I ran back along the disusedrailway at Whitchurch. The railway was Nor'dzin's suggestion and it's a lovely place. I ran about sixteen kilometers. It's a bit unbelievable, to be honest.

In the afternoon we went to the shops. We collected an order from 'Iechyd Da' at our local ecological shop. They have been amazing over the last four months. We have been relying on them for a large part of our food. For their part they have valued their customers. So we have a society of mutual appreciation. We feel now that we can visit the store, so they don't need to deliver things to us. We also went to the bike shop to ask for Daniel's bike which has been in the garden for years. Unfortunately, it would be too expensive to repair. We asked Daniel what we should do and he agreed to donate the bike to charity.

So then I walked by bike to Cycle Training Wales to give them the bike. It was four kilometers round trip - so I've been more than twenty kilometers today. I feel really fortunate to have the health and strength to do things like this.
