Mangroves

Went for a long stroll down the Cooks River at lunchtime - there’s no one else at work, after all - and was amazed again at how the most polluted and altered river in Sydney is gradually coming back to life. Mangroves aren’t all that beautiful, but they provide a home to all sorts of bird, marine and insect life. Along the way I encountered food delivery riders, runners and a woman picking bags of greens from a meadow. We communicated by signs and gestures. The greens, possibly watercress, are edible, but her dog deterred me from getting closer. I’ll return with my plant app.
