Hop Toad

I was fascinated by toads as a child, and always referred to them as Hop Toads.  This little guy (around 1 1/2 inches) jumped out of the rocks as I was weeding this morning.  I haven't seen one in the yard in a  long time, which I can also say for the long black snake that slithered up the hill yesterday.  They are probably neighbors in those same rocks.  I have a male friend who says he would never have bought our house because of the rock wall in the back, which I always thought was a bit of an overreaction.  I'm not a snake fan either but we know don't present any risk. There are a lot bigger "snakes" to be afraid of these days.
