If you can't beat them...

A cooler day so I wasn't tempted to go chasing insects round the garden.  Instead I settled for birds, it's a while since I blipped a bird.  Scopies (sorry reverting to my native tonh=gue again) are looking particularly smart at the moment.  Somehow they don't seem to suffer the feather damage of some species, perhaps because they aren't hole nesters/

The population has fluctuated over the years but doesn't cause any concern being basically stable.  Somebody in Cumbria has been busy over the years 459 have been ringed and 465 previously rung (not necessarily in the county) have been recorded.   With a typical life span of 3 years the maximum age (shown by ringing) is 13 years 11 months and 26 days.
