A trip back to winter...

Walls of snow at the top of Jostedalen - compressed and melting with beautiful scalloped shapes.

I didn't take many pics today as the weather was so bad and we were mostly indoors...

------------------------------------*************--------------'

A rainy, cold and grey day, well forecast so not unexpected.

We made the most of a couple hours clear weather first thing to clean up and make pancakes for breakfast on the camp stove
We visited the Breheimsenter (national park museum on glaciers and other topics - a really nice and interesting collection and very informative), had a spot of lunch and then drive up to the top of the valley where a large dam holds back Styggevatnet - a lake into which calves Austdalsbreen glacier.

A quick walk up to see the lake - passing these huge walls of snow and we were thoroughly soaked and ready to go home so an afternoon of cards, minecraft (kids), bridge (husband), work on a paper (me) and family yatzy beckoned.

In the mean time it so after down outside, the river rose ever higher and we had a very hyggelig time in the campsite common room.

I made a delicious leftovers dinner and dranknfar too much coffee after reading, in Andrea Wulf's book about Humboldt (finished this morning!) that he owned a parrot who shouted "more coffee, more sugar Mr. Seifert", apparently after hearing it so often...
