Bridge walk

It was a grey wet day for most of the day so we decided to stay local. You can access the Wales Coastal Path directly from the house so we walked up to firstly the Britannia Bridge. Here you see a section of the original tubular rail bridge built by George Stephenson in 1850, which burnt down in 1970 and was replaced by the stone one , just visible to the right in 1980, as a vehicle and rail bridge.
We then went on through the driving rain to the Menai Bridge, crossed over and dropped down to an old chapel and graveyard on the Menai known as Church Island, before retracing our steps.
By which time the rain had abated somewhat and the walk back was more pleasant, although of course we were soaked and muddy! Walked about 9 miles.
