Underside

I'm now blipping one week in arrears, I'm rather busy and have not caught up. Today's mono Monday is the underside of the extension's roof.

In England slates are attached with a lead roofing nail at the top of the slate, which gives a neat tight finish but if a slate breaks, then it's rather a pain to repair.. In France slates are hooked from the bottom, which makes them far easier to repair, but the hooks easily rust away and they are very visible, so they aren't perfect either.

This is the underside of our extension (incomplete) which had some gaping holes caused by some storms this spring which have eventually been repaired. The roofer didn't warranty the repair, saying the roof was pretty dead really (which we knew), but to be honest I wouldn't have even gone on it with a roofing ladder - so he was a braver man than me!
