Living In The Future

First up this evening, big thanks and acknowledgement to Noodle888 whose marvellous 300th blip on Tuesday inspired this one!

I really like being up here. perhaps because it makes me think of all those drawings from the 1950s that depicted life in the 21st century. These drawings invariably revolved around certain concepts such as cities on the moon, flying cars, robot servants, and an utter lack of war, poverty or exploitation; achievements built, presumably, on the back of every single person on the planet waking up and deciding in unison to not be a cock to anyone else, anywhere, ever again. Though originally published under titles like Planet Earth 2000, I think Wankerless Future would have been a more succinct description of the utopia they depicted.

But anyway, yes. The Selfridge's building. Resembling an angry Cyclops alien on the distant planet Broomijem 7, with a tubular nose sneezing out captured Earthlings. Or a colony on some terraformed moon, a sole settlement on a brave new world.

Anywhere but the West Midlands in the pissing rain. They didn't picture that in any science fiction drawing I've ever seen.
