GREAT MULLEIN

During an idle moment between races I amused myself shooting the myriad of plants surrounding the track. This is the Common Mullein (Verbascum thapsis), a plant native to Europe, Africa and Asia. It has been introduced to the Americas and Australia....although I do not know why that was done. It has very little use as fodder as the "hairy" leaves irritate animals trying to eat it. It does have some minor medicinal value, however.
