Lavender Harvest.

I went to the lavender fields and they were heaving with people. I was also a bit disappointed to see that the lavender was past its best but then I noticed the big specialist harvesting machine in the field opposite. I've never seen it in action before so it was good to see. The cutting part goes over the rounded humps of lavender leaving the bushes intact.Then the flower heads come pouring out of a big hopper into the container at the back.
Extra is the little barn with a nicely rusty roof in a field nearby.
The smell was intoxicating, almost too much.
Couldn't hear myself think for yellowhammers.
