Beacon and Horse with Sky

It could have been so artistic, but for the grass protruding into the bottom of the frame.  This is Okeford Hill beacon, apparently lit for the first time in 1988, although I remember the beacons in Herefordshire being lit ten years earlier, I think.

The view as you come north off the hill is a surprise and rather lovely, north Dorset's hills and woodlands laid out before you.  We walked east from the road after a picnic and enjoyed the sunshine and the breeze.

The Extra is of Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, a place unknown to me until today.  I gather that it was made famous by the old Hovis advert.
