The sun is shining.

Northumberland day 2

After a very comfortable first night, we woke up to a beautiful sunny morning. We had breakfast and then I prepared a picnic and we set off for our walk.

Craster  - Dunstan Steads -Dunstanburgh Castle - Craster.

Leaving the carpark we headed through a woodland passing our first kissing gate, we headed up the hill and to the 18th century gateway, turning left we went through three more kissing gates before passing the Old ale house( now a private residence). Leaving the road we entered a field of barley .

Passing through Dunstan Stead’s we stopped to admire a beautiful garden then skirted the edge of the golf course and arrived at Dunstanburgh Castle ( visit by appointment only) leaving the castle we stopped to have our picnic, overlooking the sea.

After having a walk round the harbour we visited the Smokery at Craster.

I hope you have enjoyed our walk. We’re off to enjoy our kippers
