Bempton Cliffs

We had a wonderful day out at Bempton Cliffs yesterday, an RSPB site.  Our first glimpse of the sea since last year and our very first outing where we’ve travelled so far from home, just as Boris is mumbling more inanities, `hands, face, space’, while changing the rules yet again!  No wonder people don’t understand what the rules are and now large parts of the north of England are facing shut down again.

I think the volunteers had done a good job in trying to make the site as safe as possible and the car-park men were wonderful.

The slight haze over the sea made the landscape more amenable to photography than did the bright light on the birds, which was a real challenge to get right.  Dark shadows and blown out highlights do not make for good nature photography.

Our journey home was long and tiring, even though we set off mid afternoon to get home, I think we were stuck for almost an hour waiting our turn to get through a four way traffic light where they were working on a roundabout.  Then just as we thought we’d got through the worst and were on the motorway heading for home, the notices said that our exit junction was closed. We then had to travel through Doncaster where we met yet more road closures and had to make more detours.  Thank goodness for mobile phone technology!

Home last night and much too tired to do anything.
