Childhood memories

Delighted to see these Clydesdale horses and their offspring appear in the field opposite us on the other side of the Allan Glen.
 
(Apologies for the poor quality of the photo- they are at least a mile away as the crow flies)
 
In view of the current pandemic there is something about this image that resonates with times past of a carthorse standing underneath an oak tree.
 
Also, it reminds me of my childhood in Wales. I learnt to ride on a horse like this, bareback with just a halter. My brother and I, aged about 6 or 7, would go out into the field and catch one .
