Hazelnuts

Nuts to go with yesterday's fruit.  There were some hazelnuts on the ground this morning, which probably means that the squirrels are testing them for ripeness.

The main excitement of the day was the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, 30 miles from here (extra).  For those of you not into F1, the last couple of laps were unbelievably exciting.  Lewis Hamilton won having driven round the last lap with a punctured and shredded tyre.  My heart rate hasn't returned to normal yet.

For a quiet person, not much interested in sport, I am surprised that I am a Formula 1 fan.  The only actual race I have been to was in September 2018 when we "somehow" found that we were doing a stopover in Singapore on the way back from Australia on race weekend.  Singapore was full of fans, lots of them British, most of them men, and all soaking up the heat, noodles, Tiger beer and excitement.  I have to say it was a fairly boring race, which Lewis won easily, but the atmosphere in the city was electric.  How all our personal boundaries have shrunk since then, but so much better for the planet!
