Dyson Cote

Situated at the junction adjacent to the Dyson Cote farmstead is a unique Guide Stoop. Erected in 1734, stoop is hexagonal in shape and gave directions to travellers, many of whom would have been travelling from either side of England and Wales to the other on foot or with a horse or donkey. The traveller would have known that you turned right from the side of the stoop that they faced. It is an indication of the number of important tracks and pathways passing through the locality. Dyson Cote is on the ridge above the valley of the River Don and valley of the Little Don before the dark peat moorland of the Pennines. 
Another cold, wet day. Spent the afternoon completing final edits to the first photo book for Penistone Camera Club on 'Reflections' with Wendy (aka Viewpoint.)
