Orange 'thistle'

A flower I have never seem before  in a bouquet - like a thistle - but different - a saffron thistle. American saffron or Mexican saffron is safflower, a member of the daisy family and the same plant that is used to produce safflower oil. Dried flowers from this plant impart the characteristic yellow colour to foods, but they have no flavour.
I isolated the blooms against a canvas landscape picture using a long lens to give a variagated coloured backdrop.
