Walter C Best Wildlife Preserve

"This 101-acre park, donated in memory of Walter C. Best, founder of the nearby Best Sand Corporation, who built its 30-acre lake because of his interest in waterfowl, is home to a rich diversity of plant and animal life.  More than 100 species of birds have been sighted here, making it a favorite for birdwatchers, especially during migration.  Three paved trails provide scenic views from all around the lake." -- Geauga County Park System

There were several platforms for fishing and a gazebo hidden in foliage for bird and waterfowl watching at lake's edge.  Another Geauga County gem we didn't know about until today!

Dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies, moths, fish, deer, turtles, birds, wildflowers, waterlilies, and caterpillars were all seen today.  The scent of Queen Anne's Lace graced our walk in some spots, and a gentle breeze in 70 degree weather felt just perfect.  We had some brief encounters with  a few other pleasant people.  Most were walking dogs.

Home late and dinner has yet to be made.  I didn't sleep until 4:30 a.m. so I'll be off the computer early tonight and will look at the rest of your blips tomorrow.  Thanks Cailleach for hosting :)  P.S. There are 3 baby robins in the nest, growing like crazy!

Be well!
