Lockdown Day 137, Speckled Wood

Speckled Wood butterflies only arrived in Fife in 2014 but have quickly consolidated their hold on the county. Last year I was regularly seeing up to half a dozen every week through the summer.

Until today, I had only seen a single rather tattered specimen this year but the second generation would appear to have hatched and today I encountered three of them on my short trip out.

One above and another in the 'extras'.
