Himalayan balsam seed pod - they go off like a jack-in-the-box when they are ripe. We always knew them as Policeman's helmets when I was little.
Humid walk around the sand quarries. Bumped into a birding couple I haven't seen for months & months and had a lovely long chat. They were quietly excited about a pair of black necked grebes that have bred for the very first time on one of the pools. They are on the red list and approx only 50 pairs bred in the UK last year.
Couldn't decide on which shot to put up so some in extras. I think they are Wild Angelica and White deadnettle but not confirmed yet. Correction - not White deadnettle but Common hemp nettle.
