Spooky lights in Edinburgh's night sky

We didn't know about the testing of the searchlights for My light shines on today, so for a few moments we wondered whether aliens were signalling to us in Edinburgh from the sky tonight. I blipped this part of the display from Annandale Street.

We enjoyed a sociable start and end to our day. This morning I met Jon for a walk along the Water of Leith. On the way back we called into Bon Papillon to pick up some scones, which we ate at home with Mr hazelh in the sunshine on our patio. This evening we were guests at Katharine and Jack's house for drinks in their garden, followed by a lovely dinner that included Katharine's own-grown courgettes - in fritters as a starter, and in a cake for pudding.

In between all this I gave the back of the flat a good clean (mainly the floors and the tangoed bathroom, which have suffered a little from our recent muddy gardening exploits), started packing for our departure north tomorrow, and worked on my secret recreational project.

Exercise today: walking (23,187 steps).
